Abstract The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center has been tasked by the FAA to develop a cybersecurity R&D collaboration plan that supports aircraft certification and the broader aviation community;  leverages the knowledge, expertise, and resources of other critical infrastructure organizations; and helps to minimize the redundancy of cybersecurity R&D activities.

Specifically, the FAA  is asking Volpe to identify  organizations throughout the  U.S. Federal Government, private industry, international partners, and academia that may wish to collaborate in the following cybersecurity research and development areas such as:

*  Cybersecurity Control Catalog Research
*  Verification and Validation of Cybersecurity Controls Research (i.e. Shared facilities)
*  Audit Logs, Intrusion Detection, Intrusion Prevention, and Continuous Monitoring Research
*  Cybersecurity Personnel & Organization Certification Research
*  Independent Penetration Testing Research

Participation in this effort will provide insight into what the aviation community and other organizations are planning related to cybersecurity and provide an opportunity to understand how your organization can benefit from the work of others.

Please send response via email to kevin.harnett@dot.gov and cc:
lauren.gentile@dot.gov of the Volpe Center if you have an interest in any or all of these initiatives. Please include the R&D initiative area(s) that you have an interest in within your email response.

Volpe will contact you for more detailed information and coordinate discussion sessions.
